Glue Joint
What is the point of thinning a strong glue?
I am building a light rubber band powered airplane for Science Olympiad using balsa wood. However, I was looking around on the web, and every website recommends thinning any type of glue before using it.
Could someone tell me why a glue (I am using Duco Cement) needs to be thinned and what bonus does this add? Does it lower weight only or something else? Does it strengthen wood joints? How does one exactly go about thinning glue?
Thanks in advance.
The main advantage of thinning glue is so that it will soak into the wood and not lie just on the surface. Another lesser advantage is that it will get into all the corners.
